ADOPTED!

Meet Derek! He is a ten-month-old male yellow Labrador Retriever. Derek was surrendered to WCLRR because his young family had another baby, and there wasn’t time for him.

Derek was, unfortunately, an outside dog in his previous home. Once he came into the rescue, his foster mom worked with getting him comfortable in the house. For the first several days, he refused to go inside. Derek now sleeps comfortably in his foster home. He is doing great on his potty-training and enjoying being part of a family.

Derek loves the pool at his foster home and can be seen just lounging on the top step to cool off. Derek has decided being a member of a family is wonderful. He loves to lay around in the evening with his foster family and watch TV. His new family should make sure that they have many safe chew toys and bones, antlers. Nylabones and Kong’s are the right choice.

Derek walks ok on a leash and has learned some other basic commands like sit and no. He is a smart boy; however, additional training will be needed, but he’s demonstrated he’s eager to learn. His new home needs to make sure items are picked up off the floor, making sure Derek doesn’t get them.

Derek has been neutered, microchipped, and is up to date on his vaccines.
