ADOPTED!

Meet Houston! He is a two-year-old male chocolate Labrador retriever with a thick, glossy coat and beautiful eyes. Houston was surrendered to WCLRR when his family found that they could not give him the necessary attention and exercise for an active younger dog.

Houston is a high-energy pup that likes to play with his plush toys and other dogs. Houston is a total water dog and adores the beach and the pool! Houston enjoys walks but does pull a bit on the leash. His foster dad has been using a gentle leader with him; he responds to that.

Houston knows “sit” and “come,” and he is house trained. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night in a separate room from his foster family. He sits up and waits to be let out to go potty in the morning.

He loves people and other dogs. He is submissive to his foster sister, a senior dog. He likes to play, but she sometimes gets annoyed with his puppy antics. However, Houston does have a high prey drive and likes to chase birds, so a home with cats or small animals is probably not the best fit.

Houston likes to chew on plush toys, which can sometimes include slippers. His family will need to ensure that he has plenty of appropriate things to chew on.

Houston’s ideal home would be one with a secure yard and someone around most of the time to play with him. He is an active dog and would be an ideal companion for hiking or running. He is excellent with kids, and he would also do well with an individual or couple. He would be happy as an only dog but would also do well in a home with other dogs for playmates.

Houston is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and is microchipped.
