ADOPTED!

Meet Leah! She is a sweet little three-year-old yellow female Labrador Retriever. When Leah was surrendered to WCLRR by her “family,” we immediately knew she had an issue with her eyes. Leah was diagnosed with Entropian eyes; this is a condition where her eyelashes turned in and were hitting her eyeball. This condition is excruciating. She endured this discomfort her entire life.  WCLRR immediately took Leah in to have the corrective surgery.  After a lengthy recovery, Leah is healed and ready for her “furever” home.

Leah is an easy-going dog. She loves her daily three-mile walks but doesn’t need much more than that. Leah likes to zoom around the back yard and will beat you at a game of tug a war every time. Most of the day, she will lay by your side chewing on a toy, a bone, or napping.

Leah jumps when she is excited and uses her paws to get your attention. For that reason, she would do best in a family with children over eight-years-old.

Leah has not had an accident in her foster home. She will signal you by standing by the door when she needs to go out. Leah also uses a dog door. She sleeps through the night on a bed by her foster mom. She seldom barks.

At first, she was a bit leery of her foster dad, but she warmed up to him in a few days, and now they are best buds. She likes to collect her foster parent’s things. Now and then, you can find a slipper or sock in her crate, which she enjoys if the door is left open. However, socks can be extremely dangerous for dogs, so this type of behavior must be discouraged.

Eating is one of Leah’s favorite pastimes. She requires a slow feed bowl, which seems to be working wonderfully.  Leah is a little overweight, and her new family should work along with their veterinarian to get Leah down to an optimal weight. Cuddling on the couch with you is another favorite thing for her to do. She enjoys laying next to you and getting scratches and cuddles.

Leah could use some general obedience training. She walks ok on the leash but pulls for the first exciting minutes, then falling into a nice pace by your side. Leah likes meeting people on the walks and doesn’t have a problem with other dogs. She is also ok with cats. Leah is the perfect passenger in the car but needs a boost to get in. She really loves to be with her people and would go to the moon and back with you.
