ADOPTED!

Meet Gunner! He is 14-month-old male chocolate Labrador Retriever mix. Gunner is a large pup but doesn’t let his size fool you because he is very gentle. Gunner is so tall; you’ll forget he is still a puppy. He’ll quickly remind you, though, when he gets into your things. His new family needs to be very cautious with remotes, eyeglasses, shoes, socks, food, candy, medicine, etc. He understands “No” and corrects quickly; however, he is a puppy and needs reminding frequently.

Gunner jumps up when he gets excited, so we will not place him in a home with children under ten years old. He is a quick learner. Gunner learned to jump in and out of a car, use a doggy door, and basic obedience commands such as sit, down, and shake. He’s working on stay and leave it.

Gunner came to his foster home, having difficulty walking on a leash. He does better now but still needs someone to continue working with him so both of you can enjoy walks together. Gunner has never barked or lunged at other dogs or people on his leash. He has some separation anxiety when left alone but settles in after a bit. He goes in his crate on command.

Gunner loves cuddling right next to you on the couch.  His foster thinks he thinks he is small and can fit on your lap. He is very in tune with his humans’ whereabouts and will follow you from room to room. He settles in nicely, sleeping through the night as long as he is lying next to your bed. He is housebroken and uses a dog door to go in and out. Gunner needs an active family who has a yard to chase balls and romp around.

Gunner spent some of his previous life in a confined area, so he gets nervous about new experiences, but with love and patience, he has overcome many of his fears. He has a booming bark but reserves it for strangers that are in his territory.

Gunner gets along with cats and other dogs. We think he would do well in a home with another playful canine or someone who is home most of the time and will exercise him and even make him a running partner.

Gunner was recently neutered, and his shots are up to date and microchipped.
