ADOPTED!

Meet Chad! He is a happy and sweet 20-month-old male Golden Retriever. Chad was surrendered to WCLRR when his family realized he needed more attention than they could provide. Chad is very friendly with adults, kids, and other animals. He was in a home with another dog, and we believe he would benefit from being placed in a house with another well-adjusted dog.

Chad has been outstanding in his foster home; Chad sleeps through the night, is completely housebroken, has not shown any aggression, separation anxiety, or destructive behaviors. He is happy cuddling, following you around, or lying nearby.

Chad is a mellow dog for the most part, but he is still young and has spurts of energy. He needs daily exercise and playtime so he can get the puppy energy out. Chad loves long walks and is quickly learning proper leash skills. He will benefit from more leash training and could eventually make a good hiking or running partner. Chad also had a pool in his last home and loved to swim.

In typical puppy fashion, Chad can get overly excited when greeting and may jump. At times, he will “play bite” or nip at your clothes to get your attention or carryon with play. Chad has good bite inhibition and always has a gentle mouth. Still, he will need a family willing to take the time and patience to teach him proper greeting and playing etiquette and provide toys to channel his energy.

Chad needs some basic training. He is learning “sit” and “come” in his foster home but will need further obedience training. Chad is not very food or treat motivated but loves to be praised and rubbed, making him more comfortable.

Due to his size and energy, he will do best in a household with another dog and older children.

Chad has been neutered, microchipped, and is current on his vaccines.
