ADOPTED!

Meet Bennie! He is a beautiful black Labrador Retriever approximately three-to-four years old. Bennie is a large boy but a total gentleman.

Bennie loves to be with his family and people. He is completely housetrained and knows how to use the dog door. Given a chance, Bennie loves to climb into bed or jump on the couch to be close to you but will lay on the floor or a dog bed too. He sleeps all night in the bedroom on his favorite blanket or his dog bed.

Bennie is trustworthy in the house and does not need to be a crated. He can be left home alone in the home to relax until you return if you are gone for a few hours running errands. Bennie has not shown signs of being a counter surfer; however, his new family should still be careful never to leave any food out on the counter even when we are home.

Bennie gets along well with his foster’s dogs and cat. Bennie is on the larger side. We think he would do well in a home with another dog or two closer to his size who likes to play. It is funny to watch this big boy go into the puppy pose with his one of the fosters dogs, a six-pound Chihuahua, trying to get him to chase them around the backyard.

Bennie knows how to sit, and he is working on the down command. His favorite thing in the world is a house full of toys, and will switch around choosing which one he wants you to throw. Bennie can fetch but does not always drop. He’s getting better, though. Bennie is great in waiting for his turn to eat and get treats. The only area he could use more work is walking on a leash. We would recommend a trainer to help with making him a perfect walker.

Bennie has been around children and is very good with them. However, these are older children who can keep their balance when he accidentally bumps into them. Hw may not be an appropriate fit for a family with small children. He doesn’t show any aggression or resource guarding, but he’s “mouthy” from time to time. He will stop, though, if corrected.

Bennie is a joy, but he is a large Labrador, and his new family will need to be prepared for his size, even though he is gentle.

Bennie has been neutered, is up to date on his shots, and microchipped.
