ADOPTED!

Meet Katie, a purebred cream/buff Golden Retriever of 3 years old. Words do not adequately describe how sweet and precious this girl is. Katie came from a home where the elderly couple became ill and could no longer care for her.

Katie came to WCLRR, both apprehensive as well as afraid of most everything and everybody with whom she came in contact. After only a couple of days, with love from her foster family and support from her foster Labbie sisters, we discovered she was indeed a diamond in the “ruff.” This beautiful little girl has opened up, allowing the foster family to share in her easy-going temperament and laid back attitude.

Katie’s house manners are outstanding as she never jumps up on people or the furniture. She has been trustworthy and non-destructive when left alone and at night. She does not beg for people food while it’s being prepared or eaten.

Katie is starting to have an interest in toys but is very uncertain about what to do with them. She will chase a ball, and with encouragement, bring it back to you. Katie is not food aggressive or possessive and eats very well alongside the fosters Labbies.

Katie’s house manners transfer nicely to the car as she’s eager to jump in and rides comfortably and quietly. Although she may pull a bit at first, Katie’s does very well on a leash and especially so when walking with her new pack. Katie is sweet and friendly when meeting neighbors and other dogs and has been extremely gentle around the foster’s toddler grandchildren, allowing them to pet and brush her. She had a trip to the groomer and was a superstar! She behaved beautifully and should be an example for the other dogs they groom!

Katie shows her young age while outdoors as she loves to run and play with her foster sisters in the backyard. She did surprisingly well at the dog park, remembering her manners and played nicely with the other dogs. She stayed focused on her foster’s during this time, making sure they were nearby.

Initially, Katie had a few “accidents” in the house, but once her Labbie sisters showed her what the doggie door was for, that issue resolved.

Katie would be a gentle and loving addition to a home with another dog and people who have time to let her settle in and learn about being a valued family member.

Katie was recently groomed and is so soft, and her coat is beautiful. She is also spayed, microchipped, and current on all of her shots.
